Holy Crap….I just did my weekly check of the new music on itunes. Kevin Max, formerly of dc Talk, has just released an album called “the blood”. And judging from the album title and the track listing it is about nothing but the blood of Christ and His cross.
Could it be that an artist in the “christian music industry” is finally releasing a theologically significant album? I’m very very excited about this album. I don’t need to hear the samples in order to hit “buy”.
Every Tuesday morning, I open iTunes to see if there are any good albums that came out that day. Listed in the “new music” section today is Ricky Martin, The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and Boyz II Men. Did I miss something, or did we step back into the 90’s?
On a brighter note, Angels & Airwaves had an album come out today. Their music is really good and from what I’ve heard so far, the new album is good.
Ok, Cori started this and thought it would be fun…here are my top played songs in iTunes (what are yours?):
Position Title Album Artist
1. Wholly Yours A Collision David Crowder Band
2 through 16 The Rest of the “Collision” album by David Crowder Band
17. Read My Mind Sam’s Town The Killers
18. Crooked Teeth Plans Death Cab for Cutie
19. This is Such a Pity Make Believe Weezer

21. Bones Sams Town The Killers
22. Perfect Situation Make Believe Weezer
23. Careful Keep it Together Guster

As you can see, The Killers, Weezer, and David Crowder have gotten heavy rotation. Maybe another time I’ll post the list of my Top Rated songs.
I started the evening by picking up my brother from work and driving up to DC. There was a car upside down in the middle of Pennsylvania Ave, so the arrival time at our destination was set back by about 20 minutes.
Once we got to the 930 Club and parked, we walked a few blocks to Ben’s Chili Bowl. If you’re ever in DC, you seriously need to make an effort to experience this place. The staff is hilarious, friendly, helpful, AND they love the Washington Redskins.
After a great meal, we went back to the 930, for the Jimmy Eat World concert. They were great. It’s been a few months since I had been to a show, and they didn’t disappoint. They played a great mix from their older albums (yes, they made music before “the middle” was a hit single) as well as songs from the newer albums. I almost didn’t feel like going because I have been really busy and tired lately, but I am really glad I went. It was a great time.
I love surprises like finding out there’s something available from an artist you like that you didn’t have already.
I found out this week that Damien Jurado’s Gathered in Song e.p. had been re-released with more music.
The song “Simple Hello” is one of the top rated songs in my music library and is quite incredible. So it’s not really ‘new’ music, but it’s probably new to you and you should go listen to it.
holy cow, the new single from Jimmy Eat World is good. Check it out HERE.
To me it sounds like a hybrid of the clarity album and the bleed american album. And it’s danged catchy.
This week I bring you:
Derek Webb - The Ringing Bell
Dustin Kensrue - Please Come Home
Caedmon’s Call - Overdressed

The new Caedmon’s Call made my list because Derek Webb worked with the band again on this album. I’m a really big fan of Derek’s music, and he has much more available than what I’ve linked above. I highly recommend you check out his music.
Here’s what I’ve been listening to:
Sandra McCracken - The Builder and the Architect
Sandra McCracken - Gravity Love
Eisley - Combinations
Fionn Regan - The End of History
Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger
I just picked up Trading Twilight for Daylight by Great Northern. I really like it a lot and you might like it too. They’re also on that social networking site.
Ok…my brother hijacked my itunes account and purchased “Grace Kelly” by new artist Mika. I have to be honest…the song is incredibly catchy, and with my music taste catchy is a very good thing.
I ended up picking up the album, Life In Cartoon Motion, and so far it’s very fun. It’s at least worth listening to the clips on itunes.
