Vox has changed. I only updated a page on vox because it was terribly easy to import posts from my other blog so there was no big inconvenience. Now that I cannot find the "organize" page, I cannot find the place to import posts. The Vox "help" page has not been updated to reflect their new trainwreck of an "update". So this will be my last post on Vox for the forseeable future. If you are interested in what little I have to say. It is available elsewhere. Over and out.

ps. - i never liked vox very much anyway.

“Dooooooon’t Stop Belieeeeeeving”

Say what you want about the Cowboys resting some of their players. Today’s game was going to be hard fought regardless. The Redskins/Cowboys rivalry runs deep, and there is no such thing as a “gimme game” between the two.

I absolutely love football season in Washington. This is a football town through and through, and when the Redskins are playing well there is honestly a noticeable difference around town. I went to the grocery store this afternoon after church and you would think I was at the stadium. People were all decked out in their Redskins gear and it takes little to know prompting to get into a conversation about the game. It’s a really cool sense of community.

For the last four weeks, I have made this statement about the Redskins: “It’s just nice to have one more week of meaningful football.” And meaningful football it will be this Saturday at 4:30pm. I absolutely believe God is giving Joe Gibbs a great stage with which to glorify Himself (note the capital “H”), and I can’t wait to watch this weekend’s game and to see my team progress to the next round of the playoffs. That way we can play the cowboys again and not only beat them again, but also knock their sorry behinds out of the playoffs. After all…that’s what good rivalries are made of! Hail to the Redskins!

The blood will never lose its power.

Holy Crap….I just did my weekly check of the new music on itunes. Kevin Max, formerly of dc Talk, has just released an album called “the blood”. And judging from the album title and the track listing it is about nothing but the blood of Christ and His cross.

Could it be that an artist in the “christian music industry” is finally releasing a theologically significant album? I’m very very excited about this album. I don’t need to hear the samples in order to hit “buy”.

I’m slated to fly into….Dulles….airport tomorrow evening at 7:30 pm. There’s one minor wrinkle: Snow and Ice. I’m slated to preach on Sunday morning at church and I’m pretty excited to do so. However, for that to happen, I need to be able to fly back home. So please allow me to say what I say every year:

I. Hate. Snow.

There is nothing good about it.

Please pray that it would somehow not snow in DC this weekend, at least until I can fly in to DC and drive home safely.

On a different note, I uploaded a lot of pictures today from my trip. I’ll tag/describe them on flickr as I get the chance.

Making Middle Schoolers Cry Since 2007….

Funny Story:

Last night I went to the youth group my friend leads. At the end of the night, the kids went into the gym to play dodgeball. Of course I had to get in on the action. Well, I threw a ball ~~as hard as I could~~ with spirit into a group of kids. The ball hit a smallish middle school boy in the stomach and he immediately started crying and walked off the floor. I felt terrible and went over to talk to him and to tell him I didn’t mean to make him cry (ok, i said i didn’t mean to hit him that hard, but what i really meant was that i felt bad that he was crying). I let one of his youth leaders take over and I went back to playing dodgeball. Toward the end of the night, the kid was leaving and I went over to him to give him a high five and to once again say I was sorry. He ignored me, looked straight ahead, and kept walking. At that point I was a lot less sorry I made him cry.

By the way, go buy The Photograph E.P. by Lakes right now. It’s a really great collection of songs. You’ll be glad you did.

Dear Snow: I hope you melt!

It’s no secret that I hate snow. So when I found out today that it is supposed to snow back in maryland this week, I was elated. Elated because I’m not there. I feel like I got one over on the weather by leaving town when it snows. It’s 70+ degrees here and I’m loving it.

I found a place really close that rents horses, so I’m going to try and take a horseback ride through the desert soon. Evertime I look up at the mountains in the desert, I keep expecting to see one of the Cartwrights holed up behind a rock and in the midst of a gun battle. Knowing my luck, if i ride a horse in the desert, I’m sure it’ll see a snake and send me flying.

The Late Great Golden State.

I’m in California and having a great time so far. Last night we went to San Diego to see Mae and Anberlin in concert. Anberlin was the best by far.

My internet access has been somewhat limited, but when I get a chance, I’m going to upload a bunch of pictures that I’ve been taking.

Live From Vegas

I’m sitting in the Vegas Airport waiting for my connecting flight, but while I have a few seconds, I wanted to pass on that I just ran into Teller from Penn & Teller. And yes, he can and does talk.
